2024 Year in Review!

Happy final Friday of 2024! We are barely over 100 hours away from the start of a brand new year. Although I'm eager for 2025 and all the promise that a new year brings, I'm even more grateful for the many gifts that 2024 brought my way.

For the last 5 years in a row, I've sat down during the 52nd week to reflect on the year as it comes to a close. I spend 10+ hours looking through every photo in my camera role, reviewing my weekly journal entries, and reminiscing on the highs and lows from every month. This has become an incredibly therapeutic annual tradition, and I'm excited to share it with all of you! Here are each of the previous 5 years: 20232022, 2021, 2020, 2019

2024 was one of the biggest years of my life. The year I got engaged! The year I turned 30. The year I completed the Seattle-to-Portland bike ride. The year I celebrated my 1,000th day in a row hitting 10,000 steps and practicing Spanish every day. The year I traveled outside of Washington almost every month - including an incredible 10 days in Japan. Without further ado, here's my 2024 year in review!

January

I kicked off the year with a health & fitness challenge to reform some healthy habits after the indulgent holiday season. My challenge was to sweat daily, hit 10k steps daily, follow a balanced diet with lots of protein, take my supplements daily, drink more water & less calories, and get 7+ hours of sleep every night. It was a great way to start the year!

Other January highlights included a trip to LA to visit family, going indoor skydiving for the first time, applying for the Amazing Race (better luck next time), and hitting a 1,000-day streak on DuoLingo. I also shared some before & after photos from our home remodel that we completed at the end of 2023.

February

I always say that February is my least favorite month of the year in Washington, but this one wasn't too bad. I spent a weekend in Whistler for a friend's bachelor party, handed out roses in Tacoma for Valentine's Day (a Theory tradition), started testing food for our new restaurant, went to the Great Wolf Lodge with my family, and challenged myself to form better evening habits.

March

After going north to Canada in February, I flew south in March to visit my grandpa in Mexico. He lived in San Miguel de Allende for the winter, a very cool town in Central Mexico. My grandpa consistently inspires me to live my life to the fullest.

March was also the first month of Spring, which meant that we saw the first 70-degree day of 2024, I started training for the STP bike ride, and we spent Easter weekend on Anderson Island. I also had the privilege of teaching a guest lecture at UW and hit a new PR in the gym. My challenge for the month of March was to practice Japanese every day - in preparation of a big trip coming up in April.

April

My challenge for the month of April was to go somewhere new every day for a month, and I got to check out some pretty cool places! Japan has been on my bucket list for years and it did not disappoint. I wrote this blog post all about the trip.

Other April highlights included celebrating my 10-year anniversary of getting my real estate license, helping Tony and Erin buy a home, sharing about house-hacking, and watching my mom throw out the first pitch at the Rainier's Game.

May

We spent the first half of our Japan trip in Tokyo, and the second half was spent exploring Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. A few days after returning home, I drove back up to Whistler for Mother's Day weekend to celebrate Mama Miller. We even saw the Northern Lights, a truly magical sight to see.

May was also the month that we opened our very first restaurant, Radnor's Burgers & Beignets! Come check us out if you're ever in Tacoma and in the mood for a smash burger. I ended the month on Bainbridge Island to celebrate the wedding of our friends Justin and Lauren.

June

June was all about healthy eating and STP training. I followed a healthy diet, saw a Jordan Davis concert at Chateau Ste Michelle, spent a weekend in LA to meet baby Paisley, sold Nick and Julia’s house, and held our annual Theory Spring retreat!

July

July was definitely my most action-packed month of the year. I had a physically taxing event pretty much every weekend: The Seattle-to-Portland bike ride (tied with Mt Rainier for the hardest thing I've ever done), hiking the Enchantments (one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen), and my 3rd annual SeaFair Triathlon (set a personal PR). Everything went pretty dang well other than spraying myself with bear spray

I also had a great 4th of July, spent a weekend in Chelan, helped Kabir buy his first home, and showed off this sweet Theory Transformation

August

Summertime in the PNW - Hard to beat! So many fun summer events including our 7th annual Island Palooza, sailgating with friends, a weekend in Chelan, and the WAREI retreat

My challenge for August was to hit 500,000 steps over the course of the month, and I hit my goal around 11 PM on August 31st. I was also excited to help Josh & Sinem + Hannah & Chad buy their first homes this month. Last but not least, August marked the 1-Year-Anniversary of the How Was Your Weekend podcast with Jamie - thanks to everyone for tuning it!

September

September consisted of 2 beautiful weddings, a trip to Denver and the Rockies with Chad, running the Diplo 5k in Fremont, Stevie's 3rd birthday, a weekend on Anderson Island, a new listing going live in West Seattle, and Day 1,000 of 10k steps every day (a huge milestone for me!)

October

My challenge for the month of October was to burn 1,000 active calories every day, which was made possible one day by a 10-mile hike with Stevie.

Other highlights from October included our quarterly Theory All-Team Meeting, a very happy Halloween, and an incredible family trip to my happy place - Puerto Vallarta.

November

And finally, the month we've all been waiting for - November! I got engaged to the love of my life, turned 30-years-young, celebrated Theory's 8-year anniversary, went to Santa Barbara, launched Theory Pickleball Club, and attended the groundbreaking for Tacoma Rescue Mission's Good Neighbor Village

December

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The holiday season is easily one of my favorite times of the year. So many occasions to get together with family and friends to simply enjoy each other's company. December highlights included a Seattle staycation to see Mary Poppins, collecting hundreds of gifts for the TRM Gift Drive, officially becoming President of the Tacoma Rescue Mission board, successfully completing my first colonoscopy, and having a wonderful Christmas morning with family. Merry Christmas to all!
