Argentina & Uruguay

Hello from the sky! I’m currently sitting on my 1st of 3 flights today from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Quito, Ecuador. I spent the past 5 days exploring the “Paris of the South” (Buenos Aires) and taking a day trip to Colonia, Uruguay. Some highlights include:

  • Renting a bike in Buenos Aires and riding through the enormous ecological reserve in the heart of the city

  • Getting severely lost in Uruguay, but meeting some really cool people along the way

  • Falling off the top bunk bed in my hostel in the middle of the night :)

  • Getting a haircut at a tiny barbershop from a barber who spoke zero English (he thought I wanted a buzz cut)

  • Drinking smoothies every morning at a little vendor in the park

  • Spending a night seeing Star Wars and going to TGI Fridays (missing America a bit)

Update on my sunburn: It’s gotten so much worse. I thought it would be a good idea to apply sunscreen only on the areas that were previously burned and not on the other areas to “even out” my burn. Yeah, not my best idea. I now have 3 different layers of sunburn: 1. burned/somewhat tan arms and neck that are starting to peel (gross); 2. freshly burned shoulders and nose; and 3. a small strip on my arm that has miraculously escaped the sun and is still completely white. I’ve gone through an entire bottle of Aloe Vera in 5 days. I’m considering making a separate blog to follow the adventures of my sunburn. Thoughts?

Can’t wait to get to Ecuador and meet my host family! Hasta pronto.
