Austria & Slovakia
Austria was beautiful. I checked into my hostel around 3 PM yesterday and set out to see the city. I visited Schönbrunn Palace, Gloriette, Hofburg Palace, St. Steven’s Cathedral, and tons of other places I can’t pronounce or spell. I don’t know a single word in German, so communicating was definitely a struggle.
My hostel was right next to the Naschmarkt, a huge public market similar to Pike Place (but not nearly as cool). Vienna has an incredible subway system for getting around. I’m still amazed at Seattle’s lack of public transportation (and no, the light rail doesn’t count).
Today, I spent a few more hours in Vienna, then took the train to Bratislava, Slovakia. It was surprisingly charming. I’m currently at the train station waiting for my delayed train to Budapest. I’m loving every second of this trip, but I can’t wait to be home.
