Brazil
My last week in Ecuador was by far the most homesick I’ve ever been in my life. Don’t get me wrong- I had an incredible 10 weeks studying in Quito and traveling through Ecuador. But oh how I’ve missed the U.S. of A. Before heading home to Seattle, I met my parents in Brazil for Spring Break. I flew from Quito to Lima, Lima to Sao Paulo, and Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro. Hugging my parents made the 14 hours of travel 100% worth it.
I was immediately blown away by the beauty of Rio; a city surrounded by beaches with mountains scatted throughout. We took the “Teleférico” up Sugarloaf Mountain, channeled our inner Snoop Dogg at Escadaria de Lapa, fought the crowds at Christ the Redeemer, and ate way too much meat at a Brazilian buffet.
From Rio, we flew to Foz de Iguazu, a city in souther Brazil bordering Argentina and Paraguay. We visited the breathtaking Iguazu Falls, one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World with 250+ waterfalls in one place. Pictures truly cannot do it justice. We took a helicopter for a bird’s eye view and a terrifying safari / boat ride into the waterfalls. What a day.
We’re flying out of Brazil tomorrow afternoon, and we’ll be home on Saturday. See you soon Seattle!
