Marketing the American Dream
This past weekend, our team at Theory Real Estate had a chance to visit the University of Washington campus in Seattle for an awesome event. Every year, a student organization called the UW American Marketing Association puts on a marketing case competition. They partner with a local company, and 15+ groups of college students spend 48 hours coming up with a marketing strategy for that company. This year, we were extremely grateful that Theory Real Estate was chosen to be this company.
The theme for the case competition was “Marketing the American Dream”. In this day and age, a lot of millennials don’t believe that the American Dream of homeownership is realistic or attainable. I’m a huge believer that buying a home is still a smart financial decision, and it’s a lot easier than most people think. One of my favorite stats is that the average homeowner has 44 times the net worth of the average renter. That’s pretty crazy to think about! One of our goals at Theory is to educate millennials and first-time homebuyers about real estate, so it was very cool hearing from a bunch of college students about how we might be able to reach more people through our marketing. There were a TON of awesome ideas, and I am so excited to implement many of them into our business!
