Visiting My Grandpa in Mexico
Last week, I had the chance to visit my grandpa in San Miguel de Allende, an incredible town in Central Mexico about 3 hours from Mexico City. Papa’s been living here since the beginning of the year and says it’s his favorite place he’s ever been. He knew I was coming to visit, but my mom was a surprise!
I was blown away by this incredible town. Now I understand why my grandpa loves it so much. Some highlights include:
Finding a rooftop to watch the sunset every night
Going to all my grandpa’s favorite spots and meeting friends he’s made over the last few months here
Eating Italian food and gelato every day because my travel partners are un poco picky
Hiking above the city to take in the views (can’t believe my grandpa can do this at 86-years-old)
Exploring all the colorful cobblestone streets
Practicing my Spanish as much as possible
HERE's a video that I made recapping the trip.
This was an incredibly special few days that I’ll never forget
Guest Lecturing at UW
Last month I had the opportunity to guest lecture a class at UW. 8 years ago during my last quarter in the business school, I took a real estate finance class, and last month I stood in front of that exact same class to share about my experience in the real estate industry - the mistakes I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, and the wide world of real estate I’ve experienced.
I was pretty intimidated when I received the email from my former professor about guest lecturing, but I’m so glad that I said yes. Being back on campus was incredibly energizing and nostalgic. I decided to make the most of my UW day by meeting with a student who’s considering a career in real estate and attending a startup showcase event later in the evening.
A lot has happened in the last 8 years, but it also feels like a blink of an eye. Time flies, eh?
Monthly Challenges
Can't believe we're already a quarter of the way through 2024!
Here are my monthly challenges for the last few months:
February Challenge = Create Better Evening Habits
March Challenge = Practice Japanese Every Day
April Challenge = Go somewhere new every day for a month
Limiting Beliefs
When I attended my very first CrossFit class back in 2019, the thought of snatching a barbell over my head was terrifying to me. I slowly but surely built up the courage and learned the mechanics of the movement. But then I plateaued, and I’ve been stuck at the same max weight for 2+ years. I had a limiting belief that I couldn’t go any higher, and that prevented me from even trying. A few weeks ago, I crushed that limiting belief and hit a new PR!
There are so many things in life that we tell ourselves we can’t do, but real growth happens when we push those thoughts aside and do those things anyway.
I also went on my first bike ride of 2024. T-minus 101 days until Seattle to Portland race!
How’s the Market?
Market Update Time! Our local Washington real estate market is definitely heating up as we’ve officially rounded the corner into Spring. We saw more pending sales in March than any other month since last May. Competition is increasing, and most homes are selling for above list price 2-3 weeks faster than they were just a few months ago. Inventory is increasing with nearly 8,000 new listings across the NWMLS last month. Buyers are embracing the steady ~7% interest rates with plans to refinance later, while sellers are taking advantage of the hot Spring market.
