My Millennial Christmas Card
Hello from Tacoma! Today is Friday, December 20th, and I am spending some time reflecting on this year. It is absolutely mind-blowing to me that 2019 has almost come to a close. Time continues to fly by, and I think it's important that we take the time to slow down and appreciate the lives we get to live.
I turned 25 this year, and I decided that after a quarter century on this planet, it's about time to send out my very first Christmas card. But then I realized... I don't have anyone's mailing addresses. Well thank God for the power of technology and email - without it, you would have no idea what I did this year! I can't just leave you hanging like that...
So without further ado, here is my Millennial Christmas Card!
January
I started out the year on an island in Thailand with 2 of my best friends. I can't think of a better way to kick off a new year! After Thailand, we traveled to Bali, which is by far one of my favorite places I've ever been. HERE's a blog post from the trip!
The day after getting back from Asia, we moved into our new Theory Lab on South Tacoma Way! This office has been such a blessing for our team, and we are so excited to make memories here for years to come. HERE's a full tour of the Theory Lab!
February
Every month in 2019, I did some sort of monthly challenge. For February, my challenge was: no alcohol, no fast food, no soda, and no sweets. That was fun!
In the middle of February, we had Snowmaggedon: the craziest snowstorm that Washington has ever seen. It was madness. Every business was closed. Every road was impossible to navigate. Everyone was forced to fend for themselves. But alas, we all survived.
On Valentine's Day, we handed out roses to strangers on South Tacoma Way!
March
In March, I decided to start a Vlog! I've made 16 videos so far this year. Check out my YouTube Channel to see all of them :) More coming in 2020! My challenge for March was to go to the gym every day for a month. Check out the Blog Post and Vlog about it!
Other highlights from March included going to Mariners Opening Day, Launching Northwest Theory, Speaking at an Event about Social Media Marketing, and Celebrating 1 Year on the Tacoma Rescue Mission Board!
April
My April Challenge was to run a 5K every day, and I ended up running over 100 miles over the course of the month! This was by far was one of the most physically challenging things I've ever done. Check out the blog post / vlog!
Some other favorite memories from April: Going up to Bellingham for a real estate event, Launching Theory Exclusive (our Client Appreciation Program), Celebrating Easter with the fam, and sponsoring the UW AMA Case Competition!
May
May was an awesome month. We celebrated my wonderful mother on her birthday AND Mother's Day. I went to Long Beach for Memorial Day weekend. I set my personal record for number of houses toured in a single day (24). I also ate a salad every day for a month, which is pretty cool I guess...
June
Summer is my favorite season, and June was a GREAT start to summer 2019! There's nothing like summer in the PNW, and I wanted to spend as much time outside as possible, so I challenged myself to not watch any TV, YouTube, or Netflix for the month of June. It was refreshing being forced to find other things to do!
We hit a cool milestone at Theory in June - over 40 people on the Theory Team! It's been fun seeing how much our team has grown this year. I also listed my townhome in Tacoma for sale, went camping with a huge group of friends at Crescent Bar, started doing CrossFit, and filmed a Day in my Life!
July
July was an action-packed month! I celebrated the 4th of July on Spanaway Lake, then headed to Lake Chelan for a few days of relaxation. I went to Vegas for the first time (SO much fun), went winetasting in Woodinville, and hung out at Reggae on the Way.
It was such an awesome month, and I wanted to capture as much of it as possible, so my challenge for July was to vlog something every single day! I created this video with a snippet from every day :)
August
August was another awesome summer month! We held our 2nd Annual Island Palooza, we took a photo of our beautiful team at the Glass Museum, I went to a friend's wedding (congrats Evan and Laurel!), and I followed a strict Keto diet. Keto was not the lifestyle for me, but I'm glad I tried it!
September
My September Challenge was easily the most fun challenge of the year. I tried something new every day for a month. Thinking of 30 things I've never done before was tough, but it forced me to think outside the box and step outside my comfort zone. Some of my favorites were...
October
Although I was sad to say goodbye to Summer, I do enjoy the variety of the changing seasons in the Pacific Northwest. There's something cozy about fall. October was full of exciting stuff going on just about every day. I traveled to San Francisco for the first time for the Real Estate Wealth Expo, we were honored to find out that Theory was selected as the Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, I followed my evening routine every day, I went to a Pumpkin Patch, and everyone in my office dressed up like ME for Halloween... Seriously the funniest day of my life.
November
As I'm writing this, November was just a month ago, but it feels like a year ago. November was a GREAT month. My challenge for the month was to express gratitude every day, and it was by far the easiest challenge of the year because I have SO much to be grateful for. We kicked off the month with Theory's 3-Year Anniversary AND Halloween Party. Such a blast. Then the next week, we threw our 2nd Annual Charity Ping Pong Tournament with Anthem Coffee, and we raised almost $10,000 for children in the foster care system! I also celebrated my 25th birthday on November 28th, which just so happened to fall on Thanksgiving this year. We had our annual Thanksgiving Bowling Tradition, then I went to Apple Cup on Friday, and headed up to Whistler the next day!
December
December has been a fantastic month already, and we still have 11 days left! I started off the month in Whistler with my family, where I spent most of the week working on big projects and planning for 2020. Then my family left, and a group of my friends came to Whistler for the weekend. Whistler is easily one of my favorite places on the planet, so it was awesome getting to spend time there with all my favorite people. The rest of this month has been nuts with all sorts of Christmas Parties, SantaCon, and prepping for the end of 2019. I am SO excited for Christmas!
