We Bought a Fixer Upper!

New Home Alert!

We’ve had an amazing 2 years in Georgetown, but it’s time to spread our wings and fly over to the other side of the lake. We’re buying this cute fixer-upper in Renton and giving it a little TLC

This is not our dream home. It’s not in one of our favorite neighborhoods, it’s half the size of our current house, and it only has 1 bathroom. It didn’t check all of our boxes, BUT it’s a great investment and will make a perfect rental in 1-2 years when we start looking for our next home/investment. We may even be able to subdivide the lot or build a DADU.

Let’s be honest - we’re really buying this house for Stevie. There’s a huge yard and a hiking trail just a few feet away. Excited for this next chapter!

Check out this video for a sneak peek of the house and this video to go shopping with us!

Trying a New Wine Every Day for a Month

I tried a new wine every day in July… Discovered that I’m not a big wine guy. I went into this challenge hoping to identify some wines that I like. I kept track of every single wine that I drank this month, and there weren’t any that I loved. I really enjoy the activity of wine tasting, but I’m far from a wine connoisseur. Maybe my palate will develop over time. For now, I will continue sippin when the occasion arises.

PS - aren’t these custom Theory wines so flippin cool?!

August Challenge

Since I started doing my monthly challenges back in 2019, I’ve had dozens of people suggest cold showers. I HATE cold water, so I’ve always ignored them… but getting uncomfortable is the best way to grow, so here goes nothing! My August Challenge is to take a cold shower (for at least 30 seconds) every day for a month

Seafair Triathlon

1 year ago, I impulsively signed up for my first triathlon 3 days before race day. I struggled my way through it without any training whatsoever, and I crossed the finish line after 2 hours, 18 minutes. Last month, I completed the exact same triathlon in 1 hour, 40 minutes. Shaved off 38 minutes! It was my fastest swimming AND biking pace since I started Ironman training earlier this year. Feeling proud of myself and excited for Ironman Washington in 46 days

2022 - 2 hours, 18 minutes, 51 seconds
-0.5 Mile Swim - 35:16
-14 Mile Bike Ride - 1:02:14
-3.1 Mile Run - 30:16
-Transitions - 11:05

2023 - 1 hour, 40 minutes, 4 seconds
-0.5 Mile Swim - 18:53
-14 Mile Bike Ride - 45:59
-3.1 Mile Run - 25:04
-Transitions - 10:08

I Completed a Half Ironman (kinda)

Last weekend, I completed a Half Ironman! Well kinda. Between Saturday and Sunday, I swam, biked, and ran all the race distances that I’ll be doing in September.

Not gonna lie - I almost had a panic attack within the first 10 minutes of my swim. I’m incredibly grateful for this guy for calming me down and encouraging me along the way. Swimming has been a huge struggle for me over the last 6+ months of training, but something finally clicked this weekend. I was able to complete the swim in under an hour, and I should only get faster from here.

When I started training at the beginning of this year, there’s NO way I would have been able to do all these distances. It’s very reassuring to know that my hundreds of hours of training are paying off. My main goal for the Ironman is simply to finish it, but my stretch goal is to cross the finish line in under 7 hours. After last weekend, it’s looking like I’m on track!

Stargazing at Artist Point

Had an amazing time hiking and stargazing at Artist Point last month. Blessed to live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!
