100,000 Steps in a Day
On January 1st of last year, I set a goal for myself to hit 10,000 steps every day in 2022. It wasn’t easy, but I was able to complete this challenge on December 31st. For 2023, I decided to continue this daily habit and see how long I can keep it up. Today is day 425.
Last week, I decided that it would be a good idea to try and hit 100,000 steps in a single day. Maybe not my brightest idea… I woke up at 4:30 AM on Wednesday, went straight to the gym, and began my day walking on the treadmill until it got light out. Then I proceeded to spend the whole day walking from Hollywood to Beverly Hills to Santa Monica to Marina del Rey and then all the way back to Hollywood. The first 50,000 steps weren't too bad; the second 50,000 steps were absolutely horrible. I definitely underestimated how hard it would be. It was probably the 2nd most challenging thing I've ever done after climbing Mount Rainier. I wanted to give up every single step for about 6 hours, but I took it one step at a time and got it done!
This is your friendly reminder to challenge yourself :) Doing hard things and stepping outside of your comfort zone is THE best way to grow. Check out the full video of my 100,000 step journey HERE!
My March Challenge
New Month, New Monthly Challenge! Since I arrived in LA, I’ve eaten pretty much whatever I want. And let me just say I have eaten WELL. We kept track of every single restaurant we’ve gone to and ranked each one on a scale of 1 to 5. I’m a little embarrassed to admit how many restaurants are on the list… but let me know if you need LA food recs
For the month of March, I’m getting my diet in check. My challenge is to follow a healthy and balanced diet for all 31 days in March. This means no junk food, no desserts, and lots of fruits/veggies/protein. My goal is to feel good about every meal and reform healthy food habits this month. READY SET GO
6 Days in Washington
At the beginning of February, I flew home to Seattle for a little under a week to celebrate the wedding of my friends Noah and Abi, and to attend some meetings and events in Tacoma. It was an absolute whirlwind. I had 27 hours of meetings over 4 days. It was an incredibly productive week and felt great to be back in the Theory Lab!
Family Time
My family was able to visit LA while we're here for some theme park hopping! I'm blessed to get to see my family a lot at work, but we haven't had a family trip in a long time. It was really amazing having some quality family time. My nephews are growing up so fast!
It was my first time seeing Star Wars Land and the Avengers Campus, and we got to check out Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios. I documented all the delicious food we ate at Disneyland and California Adventure. Incredibly fun few days with the fam!
Stevie!
I will never stop sharing photos of my beautiful puppy. We're savoring our last few days in LA I’m ready to be home and excited to be back in Seattle, but there are definitely things about LA that I’ll miss. Living walking distance from this hike is one of them. Stevie and I have been doing Runyon a few times a week, and she absolutely loves running around and meeting new friends
PS - I never would have thought that Stevie would be able to go off-leash, but our amazing trainer made it possible. If you’re looking for a dog trainer in Seattle, I HIGHLY recommend Jess with Three Six Canine
