My May Challenge
April absolutely flew by. I can't say I'm sad to be moving on from one of the craziest months ever, but I’m grateful for the lessons that April taught me.
May is a whole new month, and I have a good feeling about what’s in store. My challenge for the month of May is to walk/run 10,000 steps every day. I’m also bringing back intermittent fasting, and I’m committing that I will NOT snooze my alarm clock this month.
Our Team at Theory is working on forming good habits this month. We challenged each of our team members to pick 1-5 habits that they want to make or break in May. We created a Facebook group where we are all going to report back on our new habits on a daily basis. Group accountability is a GREAT way to create positive peer pressure and encourage people to follow through with their goals. I’m excited to grow together as a team this month!
Check out my Vlog from last week below! I would love any thoughts and feedback :)
GOING LIVE EVERY DAY FOR A MONTH
Going live on Facebook every single day in April was a fun challenge
There were most certainly days when I had no desire to hit the "Go Live" button, but I did it anyway. I've enjoyed telling stories and stepping outside of my comfort zone 🙌
Check out all of the videos on my Facebook :)
ACTIVITIES THAT BRING YOU JOY
This week, I shared my super-secret strategy for achieving happiness in your life:
Pay attention to the activities that bring you the most joy. Do more of those things!
Pretty Simple, huh?
WHERE THE NAME "THEORY" CAME FROM
Did you know that before we were Theory Real Estate, our name was Einstein Properties?! Here's the story of how "Theory" came to be 🔬
Prior to starting our real estate brokerage, my family was flipping houses around the Tacoma area. We purchased a piece of art to stage one of our houses - a canvas with a painting of Albert Einstein's face. The buyer of the house liked the painting so much that they asked to purchase it with the house. We said yes and then purchased about 10 more of the paintings and started putting them in every single house that we flipped. People started calling our houses the "Einstein Properties", and thus our brand identity was born. In 2016, we decided to take Einstein Properties to the next level and officially open a real estate brokerage.
Turns out... the Hebrew University of Jerusalem owns the rights to Albert Einstein's name. Einstein gifted his naming rights to them when he died. So this university sent us a cease and desist letter, and after months of going back and forth with their lawyer, we decided that it was time for a rebrand.
We spent weeks sitting around a white board writing up every possible name you can think of. Believe it or not, "Climax Real Estate" was one of the names we considered. Naming a company is grueling work.
I won't lie and say that we immediately loved the name Theory when we wrote it up on the whiteboard. We liked it for sure, and it was our top choice, so we all decided to sleep on it. The next day, we all reconvened. We really liked that Theory was a scientific word, so we could stick with our scientific branding and make the rebrand from Einstein Properties a bit easier. Someone came up with the slogan "Real Estate Down to a Science", which we all fell in love with. We started playing around with logo designs, as well as different ways to spell the word "Theory". When we finally came up with the beaker in place of the "O", we were all officially sold on Theory.
3 and a half years later, I can't imagine going by any other name. #Theory4eva
WHAT I’M READING
I started listening to "Atomic Habits" this week for the 2nd time. This is one of my top 5 favorite books of all time (I shared a video about all 5 books HERE)
I believe that forming good habits is one of the best ways to achieve success in life. However, forming habits is extremely difficult. A lot of people will say that they want to make or break a habit, but this is much easier said than done. Saying you want to form a habit is simply a goal. To actually make that goal a reality, you need a proven system. This book shares systems and processes to make habits stick!
“And once you understand that habits can change, you have the freedom and the responsibility to remake them." -Charles Duhigg
